IN THIS LESSON

Building the Right Foundation

Students are introduced to the fundamental principles of percussion playing. Instruction begins with proper grip and hand position, focusing on comfort, control, and injury-free technique. Through guided exercises on the snare drum, students develop basic stroke types, coordination, and rhythmic accuracy.

The lesson also includes an introduction to mallet technique on the marimba, covering correct mallet grip, posture, and basic movement patterns. Simple exercises are used to build independence, balance, and musical awareness. All concepts are presented gradually and adapted to each student’s age and experience, creating a strong technical foundation for future musical growth.
